Julian Marquez issued a rather unique challenge in his post-fight comments following his submission victor at UFC Vegas 23 on Saturday night. After sinking in a rear-naked choke in the second round of his fight with Sam Alvey, Marquez took to the mic and issued a challenge unlike any other. Calling out Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes among others for content to see who really is the baddest man from Kansas.
“You guys know I’m the baddest man from Kansas City.” Marquez began, “So Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, I challenge you guys to a badminton or pickleball competition. Straight up, if you guys want to see who the pound-for-pound champ is in Kansas City. This magnificent beard tops all of what you guys have to bring.”
Marquez is no stranger to rather unique post-fight comments, after sending a valentine declaration to Miley Cyrus earlier this year. Clearly not, someone to let a challenge go unanswered, Mahomes took to Twitter to offer a response. “Need a couple of weeks but I’m always down for a challenge,” Hill and Kelce would also voice their go-ahead for a pickleball content, but with Marquez’s recent run of impressive victories, it would seem he is on course for something much larger than Kansas bragging rights. After successive performance of the night and fight of the night bonuses, Marquez is surely looking to crack the top ten rankings in his push for a title fight.
