Former UFC heavyweight Tim Hague has been declared brain dead after suffering a knockout loss during a boxing match last night (Fri., June 16, 2017).
Sportsnet’s James Lynch was the first to report Hague’s brain injury, stating that Hague was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit following the knockout loss.
Hague, 34, made a move to boxing after suffering a 33-second knockout loss to Michal Andryszak last July in his final MMA appearance.
The Canadian veteran compiled a 1-4 record under UFC rule from 2009-2011, with his lone victory coming against Pat Barry via submission. Prior to Friday’s incident, Hague had suffered eight total knockouts throughout his 10-year MMA career.
