The second largest wrestling company in the world, New Japan Pro Wrestling, will feature it’s next big event The New Japan Cup starting March 5th in Tokyo, Japan.

Known for it’s high intensity tournaments, NJPW recently announced the brackets for this next edition where the winner will be able to challenge for any IWGP title he wants.

There are two brackets with eight wrestlers in each.

Bracket One matches

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Toru Yano
Kota Ibushi vs. Doc Gallows
Tetsua Naito vs. Karl Anderson
Kazuchika Okada vs. Bad Luck Fale

Bracket Two Matches

Togi Makabe vs. Tomoaki Honma
Yoshi-Hashi vs. Yujiro Takahashi
Yuji Nagata vs. Hirooki Goto
Satoshi Kojima vs. Katsuyori Shibata

New Japan fans have touted Makabe vs. Tomoaki as being the match to watch out for in the second bracket. Meanwhile, The Bullet Club is heavily represented in Bracket One.

The New Japan Cup will take place over several days and can be viewed on the internet through various websites. Although you may have to do a little digging here in North America, it is worth watching this tournament style wrestling event that is quite different from pay per view events in the west — think the old days of the Jim Crockett Senior Memorial Cup or even some years of the WWE King of the Ring.
