A source working for a major Canadian television network has informed us that his bosses have expressed interest in acquiring exclusive Canadian broadcasting rights to TNA Wrestling programming if they are unable to reach terms with Spike TV. Spike is available on most Canadian cable systems already. The story was originally broken by Dave Kocotos during his TNA Impact post show podcast last night.
The network has held at least one exploratory conversation with TNA’s reps at UTA in recent months.
According to what we have been told, while it would still be a cut in revenue from what Spike currently pays, it would go a long way in offsetting some of the financial impact the end of the Spike deal would have on TNA.
This would also give the company a steady income stream and still permit them to shop the show around to various US networks.
