UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre didn’t let any of the past comments made by Anderson Silva cloud his judgement when talking about the now-former UFC middleweight champion.
St-Pierre was Octagon-side at UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman to see Chris Weidman knock “The Spider” out and claim his belt.
Now, with all talk of a super-fight between GSP and Silva gone, the Canadian remains stead-fast in his recognition of what Silva has accomplished.
“He’s the greatest of all time for sure,” said St-Pierre, in an interview with Poker Listings. “You always recognize a great champion by how they come back from a loss. Silva came back from a loss and adversity before.”
Silva, though, is planning to take several months off and has balked at the idea of a rematch so far. GSP believes if he does take the second bout with Weidman, it might go the same way.
“I believe Weidman can take that win again,” he said.
