Former interim UFC heavyweight champion, Shane Carwin has reportedly suffered a knee injury in training last week but will still compete against Roy Nelson on the season sixteen finale of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show set for December 1st in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shane Carwin first reported the knee injury on his Twitter account saying, “ATTN UK Fans: I hurt my knee training and I will not be able to make the signing with the amazing people @FearlessUK.”

Carwin’s manager Jason Genet of Ingrained Media told MMA Weekly that he injured the knee while in wrestling practice, but he suffered no major tears or damage to the knee.

Shane Carwin, a former interim heavyweight champion, hasn’t been seen since UFC 131 last June when he lost to Junior dos Santos via unanimous decision. Back injuries have forced him out of regular competition, meaning he has only competed twice in the last two years.
