IMPACT RECAP July 12, 2012 – By Thomas Sanders

Here’s what you missed on Thursday’s live IMPACT WRESTLING on Spike TV from Orlando:

The feuding continued between newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries and former champ Bobby Roode. After stunning Roode at Destination X, Aries took to the ring to express his thanks to the crowd for their support during his ascent to the championship. Roode, unable to contain his rage, stormed the ring and called Aries’ win a “fluke.” Still angry in the locker room, Bobby Roode demanded that Hogan grant him a title rematch at next month’s Hardcore Justice. Instead of guaranteeing him a rematch, Hogan told Roode to challenge Aries at next week’s IMPACT WRESTLING Open Fight Night in the main event!

Bully Ray kicked off the evening’s action with his highly anticipated “anything goes” match against the lawyer Joseph Park. With a restraining order against Park’s brother Abyss in hand, Bully Ray used every weapon in reach to intimidate Park: trash cans, chairs, and even thumb tacks. Although the match went to the Bully, the bloodied and beaten Park showed an uncharacteristic flash of insanity after the match that raises more questions than answers.

In a Bound for Glory Series match, Rob Van Dam took on the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe. Perhaps relying too heavily on submission attempts, Samoa Joe left himself vulnerable to a quick reverse from RVD for the pin.

New X Division Champion Zema Ion accepted Dakota Darsow’s challenge and eventually proved why he’s the champion with a powerful reverse face plant and pin.

The AJ Styles controversy continued to unfold as Claire admitted that the baby is in fact fathered by Styles.

Knockouts Champion Miss Tessmacher defended her title against former champ Gail Kim in the evening’s Knockouts match. Miss Tessmacher’s perfectly executed flying elbow from the ropes secured the win and left new Executive in Charge of the Knockouts Brooke Hogan beaming from the commentary booth.

In the night’s second Bound for Glory Series match, Mr. Anderson delivered his signature Mic Check on Kurt Angle. Bloodied and reeling, the Olympic Gold Medalist somehow kicked out of Mr. Anderson’s pin and secured a victory with a massive suplex.

“The Icon” Sting made his triumphant return to the IMPACT zone, but the celebration was short-lived as The Aces and Eights gang attacked both him and Hogan before the night’s end. Will Sting have his revenge? Can Austin Aries prove to the world that his win at Destination X against Bobby Roode was no fluke? Tune in next Thursday for an all new IMPACT on Spike TV live from Orlando!
