Ryan Young brought out the heavy artillery this past Saturday at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga during United Promotions scintillating Fight Night event.
The skilled, ring technician from Oakville unleashed a savage barrage of shots that brought devastating consequences for Orangeville’s Ryan Wagner, eventually knocking him out in the third round, sending him through the ropes, to claim the Canadian Super Welterweight Championship.
“To get a win in that fashion brought out the emotion in me,” Young told media after the fight.
This was Young’s first time back in the ring in over a year and with this victory he remains undefeated at 10-0 with eight knockouts.
Young knocked Wagner down three times during the fight, late in the second round, early in the third and then the final KO shot that ended the fight.
“We stepped inside and went to war because we knew we had him hurt,” Young said. “The gameplan was to finish him.”
The co-main event of the evening featured a hard hitting showdown between Peterborough welterweight Cody Crowley and Argentinian Marcelo Bzowski.
Crowley controlled the fight in spite of the efforts of his more experienced opponent, and “The Crippler” slugged his way to a unanimous decision victory in 8 rounds, improving his record to 9-0.
