Column: Koco’s Corner #76 – (UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche Predictions)
Last week’s WWE Elimination Chamber was entertaining to watch if you don’t count the main event. I squeaked by with a winning record by going 4-3; but I feel dirty because one of the correct picks was for the Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson.
This week, I am super pumped up for UFC 157, if you are not up for this event watch the UFC Primetimes (Posted Down Below) going into this event. UFC does an amazing job telling stories and hyping up a fight before the event. I was a Rousey super fan turned a bit of a player hater on Ronda because she was handed the only women’s title while Cyborg was painted as a villain but after watching the pre-shows she won me back over as a super fan. I still feel bad how fans and media treated Cyborg but that might be another story for another day.
The countdowns/primetimes also turned me into a Lizbo. I will be cheering my heart out for the first openly gay UFC fighter Liz Carmouche because of two words Semper Fi. If there is one thing a Marine can do better than anyone else in the world it is crash a party. The whole world wants and thinks Ronda is going to win and they are right but I will still be rooting for my fellow Devil Dog.
This card is stacked, I am having the hardest time picking between Hendo and Machida. I could go either way but being a Pride die hard I’m going with the Pride Legend. Remember the days when Faber was on top of the pound for pound world, I hope he wins and takes one more step to being the golden boy he was a few short years ago. I’m going with McGee and Koscheck in close fights but honestly I can build a case for either of their oppents too.
Prediction Record from last Column:
WWE’s Elimination Chamber: 4-3
All Time Overall Record – 104-66
UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on February 23, 2013 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The headline bout between Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche will be the first-ever women’s fight in UFC history. The two will be fighting in the newly created 135-pound bantamweight division.
Manny Gamburyan was expected to face Chad Mendes at the event; however, Gamburyan was forced out of the bout with a thumb and elbow injury. Mendes was then pulled from the card as a suitable replacement could not be found on short notice. As a result, the bout between Court McGee and Josh Neer was promoted to the main card.
