Herschel Walker (2-0), a former football player and current MMA fighter, knows that the two sports revolve around competition, but are different.
Walker played in the NFL for 11 years and retired in 1997. Currently, he has two MMA fights under his belt, where he won both times via TKO for Strikeforce.
“In football, if you make a mistake you have a teammate who may cover for you,” said Walker. “If you step inside the Octagon or the cage, you make a mistake and you’re there by yourself. You better be able to recover from it. That’s one of the reasons I think it’s one of the best sports in the world.”
At 50-years-old Walker looks to continue his MMA career. He last fought in January 2011.
“I’m not taking anything away from football,” said Walker. “I made my life in football and I love it a lot. MMA is a different world.”
